Sample Use Cases

If you are just getting started and wonder how to use this, here are some ideas:

  • Cycle Time: Check where your 50th and 85th percentile are and ask your team and stakeholders whether they are happy with this

  • Estimation vs. Cycle Time: How close to actual time were your initial estimates?

  • Started vs. Finished: Are you able to keep a balance between starting items and closing items? If not, what might be the reason and what can you do about it?

  • Throughput: Are you able to close items consistently or do you spot any patterns (like closing everything at the end of the week)?

  • Work in Process: How much do you have in progress on a daily base? Is the trend stable or going up or down? And in which direction would you like it to go?

  • Work Item Age: How long are the unfinished items of your process already in progress? Is anything stuck or is work flowing through it smoothly?

  • Process Behaviour Charts: Are you operating within the bounds of predictability?
